Seriously? No Sid. No Gino. No Eberle. Ok, so Jordan hasn't quite reached the level of the previous two, but at least he'd give me a reason to watch the skills comp. As it stands though, who cares?
This annual back patting exhibition has so little to do with anything that resembles the actual game that its just sad to watch. The goalies are run out there like a man with one leg standing in front of the bulls in Pamplona. Good luck. No hitting, no hooking, no care. There is nothing at stake in this game and now there isn't even pride.
In the old days at least it was one conference vs the other. Bragging rights. Then it was the North America vs the World format. Again, at least a little something at stake. Now its Lidstrom vs Staal. Really? Wow, I can hardly wait. I bet Corey Perry will really bust his butt to win one for the storied tradition that is Team Staal. Come on. I'm sure fans will really get behind this one. Is there any way possible to make this game even less exciting? There is no reason for the players to even try and therefore no reason for the fans to cheer.
I'm just getting so tired of watching this league drown in its own pool.
