The small ski community of Wapiti Valley, south west of Nipawin, is under water due to flooding from the North Saskatchewan River.

Mark Anderson, general manager of Wapiti Valley Ski & Snowboard resort, said a 14-foot cabin is nearly submerged under 10 feet of water due to ice jams on the river.

Playground equipment is twisted, and a filleting shack as well as boat launch have also been affected.

Anderson said the flooding is bad, but high waters in 2012 caused more damage.

That spring the equipment shed went underwater, teaching Anderson to store the equipment elsewhere. He said storing it uphill this spring saved it from the water.
