2 facing charges after Saskatoon police recover sawed-off rifle

Saskatoon police say a man and a teenager are facing charges following the recovery of a sawed-off rifle.

A canine officer on patrol conducted a traffic stop in the 1200-block of Avenue I North just after midnight on Tuesday.

The vehicle came to a stop, however, police said one of the two men inside fled on foot with a backpack.

A 22-year-old man was quickly brought into custody following a foot chase with a police dog. He was treated for a dog bite by Medavie Health Services West at the scene.

A backpack containing the loaded gun was located nearby.

A 17-year-old boy was arrested at the vehicle.

Both are now facing a number of charges including obstruction, possession of a controlled substance, as well as firearm-related offences.
