Toronto police say a three-year-old was taken to hospital after being struck by a pickup truck downtown on Monday morning.

Police were called to the scene at the area of Dundas and George streets at around 10:30 a.m.

Toronto police Const. Clint Stibbe said the child was crossing the street with a caregiver and was struck by a northbound vehicle that was attempting to make a left turn.

Stibbe said the child was brought to Sick Kids hospital for treatment. The toddler’s injuries are believed to be non-life-threatening.

The area is expected to be closed for several hours for collision reconstruction.
