RCMP investigate possible school shooting in Balcarres

UPDATE: On March 14, the RCMP confirmed that the complaint of the school shooting was made by a youth under 12-years-old, and as such, no charges will be laid and no further details about the youth involved are being released.

The RCMP encourages parents to have conversations with their children about making reports of this nature, and that every threat complaint received is taken seriously and investigated, and have a significant impact on the community, the schools involved and the responding members.

Fort Qu’Appelle RCMP received information of a possible school shooting at a school in Balcarres, Sask. on Tuesday afternoon.

At 12:45 on March 13, Mounties completed searches of all schools in the community.

The investigation revealed that no shooting had occurred, however, RCMP members remained on scene into the afternoon to continue investigating.

All schools followed their safety protocols, which has since been lifted.
