Seven people are looking for a new place to live after a house fire Friday in Kelowna.
The blaze broke out during the noon hour in the basement of the home on Hollydell Road in the Rutland neighbourhood.
The seven occupants escaped without injury.
There is substantial fire damage to the basement and heat and smoke damage to the upper floor.
Fire investigators are trying to determine the cause. One of the residents said it may be related to smoking materials.
Some of the displaced people are being temporarily looked after by Emergency Social Services.
