Woman hit by car in Stony Plain crosswalk

RCMP west of Edmonton are looking for a driver who left the scene after an 18-year-old woman was hit in a crosswalk on Thursday afternoon.

Police were called at around 3 p.m., after the woman was hit at the intersection of 35 Street and Boulder Boulevard. A Jeep Wrangler reportedly drove through the red light and turned south onto 35 Street.

The woman was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

In a news release, RCMP are asking the driver to do the “right thing” and come forward. The Jeep is a described as a newer model, light grey Wrangler. Police did not get a licence plate number. The driver is described as an elderly women with grey hair.

Anyone with information about the collision is asked to call the RCMP at 780-968-7200 or Crime Stoppers.
