TORONTO – A five-year-girl is dead after three children were struck by a garbage truck in east-end Toronto.
A spokeswoman with Toronto Emergency Medical Services says paramedics were called to the scene (at Cliffside Drive and East Haven) at about 3:45 p.m. Thursday.
Kim McKinnon says three children were treated at the scene and two of them – a boy and a girl – were transported to a pediatric trauma centre with serious injuries.
McKinnon says the third child died of her injuries and was not transported.
Police say the girl who was killed, and the six-year-old boy and 13-year-old girl who were taken to hospital were in a group of four children.
Police say the fourth child was not injured.
