Vernon mayor Akbal Mund says it was time to act now.

“It’s important to get these lots because they’ve been sitting empty for years, so let’s make a decision and move forward,” mayor Akbal Mund said.

Vernon has taken over operating Hurlburt Park which was purchased from Trinity United Church by the regional district in 2015.

Among the improvements will be adding a parking lot, a vault toilet and buoys to define the swimming area.
