A retired Anglican priest and former history professor has pleaded guilty to a charge of sexual interference, involving a boy under 14 years old.
David Norton, 72, was wearing a red sweater on top of a collared shirt, with grey dress pants, and running shoes in a London courtroom Wednesday.
The court heard that the charge dates back to between 1991 and 1995, but the details of an agreed statement of facts won’t be read into court until March 7.
“We agree that elements of the offence have been made out, but as far as the specific facts, we need to sort out with the crown what those facts will be on the plea,” explained defence lawyer Perrie Douglas.
It’s unclear how many complainants there are now, but in 2015, Norton was charged with sexually abusing three First Nations boys from 1977 to 1983.

In 1997, Norton was an Anglican priest at St. Andrew’s Anglican Church in the Chippewa of the Thames First Nations reserve. He retired in 2011.
Norton also worked as a part-time professor in the history department of King’s University College in 2003 and was put on a leave of absence.
He’ll be going to trial for charges stemming from separate complainants on April 16.
