ST. JOHN’S, N.L. – Residents along the eastern and northeastern shores of Newfoundland are being warned about a storm system pushing large waves over the North Atlantic.

Environment Canada says a ridge of high pressure over Labrador will collide with a low pressure system over the North Atlantic, producing heavy swells Thursday.

The waves are expected to crash ashore along an area stretching from Fogo Island in the north to Cape Race in the south.
