Saskatoon police say they executed two searches on Friday and now six people are facing numerous weapon and drug-related charges.

The searches were undertaken by the guns and gangs unit with the assistance of patrol officers early Friday morning. One search was in the 600-block of Duchess Street and the other in the 100-block of Meadows Boulevard.

Officers seized a loaded semi-automatic rifle, a loaded handgun, a can of bear spray, over 2.5 kilograms of cannabis marijuana and over $14,000.

Two 19-year-old men, three 16-year-old boys and a 15-year-old boy are facing charges that include trafficking in a controlled substance, unlawful possession of a firearm, and proceeds of crime.

The accused were expected to appear before a justice of the peace Friday evening.

The matter remains under investigation.
