Sask. health line phone number changing

REGINA – Call in to Saskatchewan’s health line is now as easy as 8-1-1.

The province announced today the number has changed to 811 to make it easier for residents to call in to access health information.

The province joins a number of other jurisdictions who have moved away from 10-digit dialing.

HealthLine is staffed by registered nurses and specially trained social workers and provides free service 24 hours a day, seven days a week to anyone with a health question.

An average of 5,800 calls are received monthly with the top health concerns being abdominal pain, fever and chest pain.

The old 1-877-800-0002 number will remain active for at least two years to ensure uninterruped access to the service.
