Pedestrian injured after being hit by a car in downtown Montreal

MONTREAL – Police were at the scene of an accident in front of the Queen Elizabeth Hotel Friday morning where a 30-year-old woman was hit by a pickup truck at 8:30 a.m.

She was jaywalking at the time of the accident.

The woman’s life is not in danger, but she received a head injury and briefly lost consciousness.

The driver of the Silverado truck had a green light as he drove north on Mansfield St. and the woman was crossing on a red light going east to west on René Lévesque Blvd.

Police blocked off René Lévesque eastbound from Metcalfe Ave. to allow emergency personnel to treat the woman and an ambulance to transport her to hospital.

The fire department was also on site to hose the blood off the pavement where the woman had lain.

The driver of the pickup was treated for shock, as were passengers on an STM bus parked at the corner who witnessed the accident.
