Big Brother Canada houseguests revealed

TORONTO – A teacher from Nova Scotia, a dental hygienist from Toronto, and a motivational speaker from Vancouver are among the 15 Canadians selected as houseguests on Big Brother Canada.

Producers revealed the competitors Wednesday for the homegrown version of the popular reality show that debuts Feb. 27 on Slice. Thousands auditioned for a chance to compete for a grand prize that includes $100,000 cash, a $25,000 gift card for The Brick and a new Chevrolet Trax.

“We were so overwhelmed by the number of outstanding applicants for Big Brother Canada that narrowing it down to 15 houseguests was no easy task,” said Barbara Williams, Senior Vice President of Content, Shaw Media, in a release. “You can be sure that bringing together this diverse cast of characters from all across the country is going to make for some interesting storylines and twists along the way and we can’t wait to see how the season plays out.”

“Each of the 15 selected houseguests are bringing something special to the show whether that be through a strong personality, wacky sense of humour or competitive nature,” said executive producer John Brunton, in a release.

The houseguests will battle one another in a series of challenges and vote each other out until only one remains.

Hosted by Arisa Cox, Big Brother Canada will air three nights a week. Big Brother Canada After Dark will air seven days a week from 2 a.m. to 5 a.m. ET.

Slice is part of Shaw Media, parent company of Global News.
