The Saskatchewan Health Authority has declared an outbreak at the Big River Health Centre.
Isolation precautions and visitor restrictions were put in place on Dec. 15 after several people and staff at the centre’s long-term care unit developed gastrointestinal symptoms.
Tests are being done to determine the cause of illness.
No new admissions or discharges will be allowed at the facility for the duration of the outbreak, unless discussed with infection control or the medical health officer.
The outbreak will not affect access to the primary health care clinic or any other programs based at the facility.
Health authority officials are reminding people to perform proper hand hygiene before entering and leaving any facility, and to avoid visiting if ill.
Big River is approximately 190 kilometres north of Saskatoon.
