Arctic air surges in with -30 to -40 wind chills for the week before Christmas.

Monday
After a mild weekend with what will likely be the last positive temperatures of 2017 in Saskatoon, cooler air is starting to move in.
-14 is what it felt like with wind chill as the mercury fell back to -8 to start the day with partly to mostly cloudy skies through the morning helping warm us up to mid-minus single digits before noon.
We popped up to the freezing mark in the afternoon under mostly sunny skies as winds gusted upwards of 40 to 50 km/h into the evening.
Tuesday
A few clouds may start off the day on Tuesday, but an arctic high pressure system dropping in will carve out skies and bring us back into full sunshine during the day.
It’ll also usher in the cold air with the mercury remaining in the mid-minus teens all day with wind chills only rising from the mid -20s in the morning toward, but potentially not even into the minus teens later in the day.
With that arctic high parked right over the region Tuesday night, we’ll likely see temperatures drop into the -20s and wind chills into the -30s.
Wednesday-Friday
We’ll be on the edge of a cloud deck on Wednesday morning before clouds clear back out later on with another wave swinging through Thursday and Friday with a slight chance of some very light flurries.
The cloud cover will act as our saving grace for the rest of the week, but it’ll still be cold, with daytime highs in the minus teens Wednesday and pushing closer to minus single digits Thursday and Friday as morning lows dive into the -20s.
Christmas Weekend Outlook
A second surge of arctic air hits the region for Christmas weekend with daytime highs dropping into the mid-minus teens Saturday and falling even further for Christmas Eve on Sunday before dipping back even more, into the -20s for Christmas Day on Monday!
Saturday will likely be a bit cloudier with a mix of sun and cloud expected at this point for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day as wind chills drop into the -30 to -40 range.
