SAINT JOHN, N.B. – The city of Saint John, N.B., remains under a boil order today after the rupture of a water main on one of the city’s major streets.

The water main break on Rothesay Avenue came while 26 centimetres of snow fell on the city over the weekend.

The break also temporarily cut off the water supply to half the city.

Fire Chief Kevin Clifford says there was a partial activation of the emergency plan when the rupture severed online communications from the city.

The city says the boil order will remain in effect until at least sometime tomorrow but perhaps for most of the week.
