SASKATOON – Visitors are being allowed back on unit 5300 at Royal University Hospital after it was closed due to a gastrointestinal illness outbreak.
The unit was closed by the Saskatoon Health Region on Jan. 23 after at least 12 staff and six patients fell ill.

No new cases have been reported in the last 96 hours, allowing the unit to be reopened to visitors.
Officials say strict infection and control measures are still in place.
The unit serves orthopedic and trauma patients.
