HALIFAX – Police say a gun was fired on a bus in Halifax on Thursday afternoon after a fight broke out between three young people.
Const. Pierre Bourdages of Halifax Regional Police said no one was hurt and police are using a good quality video from the bus to help identify those involved.
He said three schools in the area were locked down for part of the day.
“It’s a very concerning incident given the time of day, the location, and the close proximity of the school,” said Bourdages in a telephone interview.

“It’s brazen.”
Investigators say there were four other passengers and a driver on the Metro Transit bus shortly before 1 p.m. when the gun was fired.
Bourdages said the fight began while the bus was moving, and the gun was produced and fired when the driver pulled over. Police say at least one shot was fired.
He said the three suspects – a young female and two males – fled from the bus and ran off in different directions.
Police say they arrested one 16-year-old male in the case at 4:30 p.m.
They are still looking for a young male with a thin build, fair skin and a tattoo on his collarbone, and for a young female with short dark hair tied in a ponytail.
The bus was in the 100-block of Pinecrest Drive in the suburb of Dartmouth when the gun was fired.
