Tim Hortons debuts The Priestley donut

Savvy marketing and timely humour has landed Tim Hortons some feel-good publicity.

Hoping to piggyback on the publicity generated from heavy placement in Monday’s Canada-centric episode of How I Met Your Mother entitled “P.S. I Love You,” Tim Hortons HQ came up with a plan they hoped would go down like a double-double on a chilly winter morning.

In the episode, several Canadian celebrities including former Barenaked Ladies frontman Stephen Page, Rush’s Geddy Lee, Alex Trebek and Jason Priestley appeared on fictional MuchMusic program Under The Tunes to discuss the breakdown of the show’s Canadian teen superstar Robin Sparkles (see below).

During a scene in which each celeb remembers which Tim Hortons they were in and what doughnut they were eating when Sparkles “lost it,” Priestley claims to have crammed a Timbit inside a strawberry vanilla and invented ‘The Priestley.”

On Tuesday evening, Tim Hortons’ Twitter account announced that they had actually created the delicious treat, tweeting:

“@Jason_Priestley, we loved the idea of ‘The Priestley’ so much, we made a batch. A Timbit IN a donut? Genius.” – via @TimHortons

Unfortunately, Tim Hortons doesn’t appear to have plans to mass produce The Priestley.
