Winnipeg police arrest man after attempting to rob same store 3 times

A 25-year-old man was arrested after a number of robberies in the 100 block of Salter Street on Tuesday.

At around 10 p.m. police received a report of robbery at a convenience store on Salter Street. Police were told a man entered the business, threatened staff and stole a number of items. The man came back a short time later to steal more things.

He then returned for a third time but staff had locked the door. He threatened the staff and got away empty-handed, then crossed the street and tried to get into a gas station. He threatened staff there and broke a window there before being restrained by staff until police arrived.

Aaron Jay Ross was charged with two counts of robbery, four counts of uttering threats and mischief under $5,000.

Police later found out that the suspect had tried robbing a woman in her vehicle nearby at around the same time. The woman fled the area but police want to speak to her about the incident. Investigators can be reached at 1-204-986-6219.
