A man and his granddaughter came ridiculously close to winning the elusive $1-million jackpot on Wednesday night’s episode of Wheel of Fortune.
The pair secured the $1-million wedge from the wheel during regular play, which puts the highest jackpot possible on the final puzzle wheel. Frank (the grandfather) and Laurel (the granddaughter) headed to the final puzzle after spinning, unaware that they’d selected the $1 million.

Frank and Laurel’s chosen category was Food & Drink, and they had five letters on the board before the 10-second countdown began. Frank eventually guessed the last word, “zucchini,” but at that point it was too late.
Once host Pat Sajak opened the prize envelope revealing the $1 million, Frank and Laurel collapsed in each other’s arms.
“Unbelievable,” Frank stammered.
