One man is in custody after police said he led them on a wild ride Tuesday.  Officers in Air1, while out on a routine flight, spotted a vehicle speeding in the area of McPhillips Street and Inkster Boulevard around 12:20 a.m.

The car, with damage to the front end, was seen shooting sparks from the front passenger-side tire which was twisted at a 90-degree angle.

General Patrol was able to stop the vehicle in the 300 block of Kingsbury Avenue at short time later.

Jessie Hawk Cooke, 20, was arrested and charged with several offences:

  • drive while impaired
  • refuse to provide breath sample
  • fail to comply probation order
  • drive while disqualified
  • driver carry open liquor

Air1 had also been in the area on the weekend to assist with an armed stand-off.
