Michael J. Fox will attend next year’s Calgary Comic and Entertainment Expo, organizers announced Monday.
The actor, who played Marty McFly in the 1980’s sci-fi classic Back to the Future, is the first guest to be unveiled for the 2018 event.
He is also known for roles in the movie Teen Wolf and the television series Family Ties.
Fox, who was born in Edmonton, has amassed an impressive collection of awards including four Golden Globes and five Emmy awards.
He founded the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research after being diagnosed with the disease in 1991. In 2016, the organization raised US$6.75 million to help raise awareness about the illness.

In October, organizers announced the Calgary Expo has teamed up with Fan Expo for the 2018 event with will run from April 26 to 29.
Tickets for the event go on sale Nov. 15.
