It was lights-out for hundreds of FortisBC customers in downtown Kelowna today.

FortisBC said there was a widespread outage at around 11:20 a.m.

FortisBC said the outage affected about 1500 customers in the downtown core.

It said the outage occurred while crews were doing routine maintenance at a substation.

FortisBC said the chances of another outage today are unlikely.
