Development underway on hotel at Edmonton International Airport

There will be a new hotel at the Edmonton International Airport.

Development of the five-storey, 135-room and suite Fairfield Inn by Marriott has started and is scheduled to be finished in early 2019.

Developer K5 Investment Group said the Fairfield Inn will be a modern concrete structure that will include a swimming pool, hot tub, fitness room, meeting rooms and a lobby bar.

“Our ultimate objective is to offer something unique to travellers. With this revamped Fairfield design, coupled with our concrete structure and airtight heating/cooling system, we believe the hotel will be the ideal place for a traveller to get a deep and restful sleep,” Ron Kary, with K5 Investment Group, said.

The hotel is being built on EIA land, near the outlet mall that’s under development and will house 100 retail tenants. Construction of the mall started in the spring of 2016 and is expected to be finished in May 2018.

The Renaissance Hotel is currently the only hotel at the EIA.
