“It is such an honour and I am humbled to be chosen as the grand prize winner out of so many amazing makers and entrepreneurs,” stated Bateson.

“I cannot express my gratitude enough to everyone who voted and to this amazing community for their support. I never could have accomplished this without that support.”

Leather work has been a 15-year passion for Bateson which grew into a business that designs customized belts from steer-hide from the historic Hermann Oak tannery in Missouri.

“I believe a belt is the most practical and essential piece of fashion in a wardrobe,” said Bateson. “For me it’s something that perfectly represents the principles that drive me: Endurance, integrity, effortless style and craftsmanship. I take those ideas seriously.”
