Vancouver police say second degree murder charges have been approved in the death of a woman in the city’s West End.

Police were called to an apartment near Jervis and Harwood streets earlier this month, where they found 34-year-old Marline Mars dead.

Several other people were in the apartment at the time, whom police believe were witnesses.

The alleged assailant fled the scene, and police now say Brooklyn Golar, a 20-year-old Vancouver woman, has been charged in the crime.

Investigators say Golar is believed to be the only person responsible Mars’ death. She remains in police custody.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Vancouver police.
