Brandon Banks piled up 240 all-purpose yards and scored two touchdowns to power the Hamilton Tiger-Cats to a 43-16 mauling of the Montreal Alouettes on Sunday afternoon.

Banks returned a punt for a 65-yard score in the second quarter, his first punt return TD in 25 games, and followed that up with a 65-yard touchdown reception in the third quarter to put Hamilton ahead 33-7.

Quarterback Jeremiah Masoli threw for 320 yards and two touchdowns, including a 1-yard strike to Mike Jones just before halftime. It was Jones’ first CFL touchdown.

Alex Green ran 13 times for 40 yards and a 4-yard major while Kenny Allen was good on all five of his field goal attempts.

Hamilton is now 5-11 on the season, improving to 5-3 under head coach June Jones.

The victory also assured that Jones would become the first coach in Tiger-Cats history to have at least a .500 record after taking over the team mid-season.

With 7:39 remaining in the game, and Hamilton comfortably ahead 43-7, Zach Collaros replaced Masoli. Collaros played for just one series and completed two of his three pass attempts for 24 yards.

Everett Golson completed his one and only pass attempt for 14 yards after he came in for Collaros.

The loss was Montreal’s ninth consecutive defeat and dropped the Alouettes to a CFL worst 3-13.

Alouettes QB Darian Durant was held to just 92 yards passing in the game. Durant tossed a 15-yard touchdown pass to Ernest Jackson that gave the Als a 7-3 lead just under nine minutes into the game, but accomplished little else afterwards.
