Kelowna man killed on Highway 97 in West Kelowna

A 32-year-old Kelowna man was struck and killed on Highway 97 in West Kelowna early Saturday morning.

Witnesses told police the man stepped onto the highway and was struck by an oncoming vehicle.

The driver and passenger of the car tried to save him.

“Despite being injured themselves, both occupants, a man and woman, quickly leapt into action to perform CPR on the seriously injured pedestrian,” Cpl. Jesse O’Donaghey said in a news release.

The highway was closed for several hours as crews investigated. It reopened shortly after 9 a.m.
