Hamilton has made a dramatic jump in the rankings from the Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives when it comes to the annual list of the Best Places for Women to Live.
Not only is Hamilton No. 3 on the list behind Victoria and Gatineau, but it jumped 10 spots in one year.
The Centre says Hamilton scored well in the areas of economic security, educational attainment, leadership, health and personal security.
The report says Hamilton, like many of the cities examined, has only a few women on its city council. The group Elect More Women Hamilton brings women into the council chambers every year and offers them the opportunity to see a future for themselves in city politics.
