It said correctional officers performed CPR and emergency services were called, but Allain could not be revived.

The agency did not issue a news release on the death until Friday. It did not return a request for comment.

Allain began serving a five-year sentence at the minimum-security facility last March for indecent assault of a female and sexual interference with a female under the age of 14.

The release said police and the coroner have been notified.
