Once the fire was contained, firefighters noticed an incendiary object under the car and handed the investigation over to the Montreal police arson squad.

“The car has been towed to a lab where investigators will process the vehicle,” said Montreal police spokesperson Jean-Pierre Brabant.

The flames damaged a neighbouring duplex and a second car that was parked in the same driveway.

Nobody was hurt in the fire.
