1 dead, 1 injured in single-vehicle crash near Terrebonne

One man is dead and another recovering in hospital after a single-vehicle collision in Sainte-Anne-des-Plaines on Sunday night.

Terrebonne police said the crash happened near the intersection of Chemin de La Plaine and Leclerc Street at around 10:45 p.m.

For an unknown reason, the vehicle left the road, and the passenger — a 37-year-old man — was killed. The driver — a 41-year-old man — was rushed to hospital to be treated for non-life-threatening, upper body injuries.

He will be met by investigators as soon as his health status allows.

Chemin de La Plaine is closed in both directions between Montée Laramée in Sainte-Annes-des-Plaines and Laurier Boulevard in Terrebonne to allow for the investigation.

Terrebonne police have asked provincial police for the technical assistance of a collision expert to analyze the scene.

Meanwhile, investigators with Terrebonne police are on site meeting with witnesses of the deadly crash.

Terrebonne police spokesperson Benoît Bilodeau said pending the results of blood sample analyses, the driver could face charges of impaired driving causing death, dangerous driving causing death and criminal negligence causing death.
