For many, Thanksgiving is a time for family. The Scriver family from Peterborough is coming together this weekend not only to celebrate the holiday, but also to host their first yard sale to raise money for a cause close to home.
The Scrivers are holding the sale on their front lawn at 90 Facendi Drive in hopes of raising $1,000 for the Terry Fox Run at St. Peter Catholic Secondary School, which will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 11.

The yard sale was inspired by the memory of a good friend and brother-in-law of the family, Steward Davies. Davies died from osteosarcoma on Oct. 7, 2000 — the same type of cancer Terry Fox was diagnosed with at the age of 15.
In addition, one of the family’s cousins, Eliza, is currently battling leukemia.
“She is very dedicated to kicking cancer’s butt, so we are also doing this to help stand behind her and help support her and her fight as well,” said Jennifer Scriver, who organized the yard sale fundraiser.
