Dressing for Success on Suit Up Day

Some Kingston job seekers had some help making a good first impression on Wednesday at the seventh annual “Suit-Up day”.  The event is a chance for job hunters to get some help looking their best for potential employers.

Mark King is an Employment Advisor with Kingston Employement and Youth Services Job Centre.

“A lot of people are lost because they don’t know how to job search effectively — so getting a little bit of support and we all need support.  It’s one way of ensuring success”.

“KEYS” along with the non-profit organizations “Dress for Success” and “Well Suited” teamed-up for the four hour event where everything from suits and ties to dresses and shoes were free.

Stephanie Relic was one of those job hunters she says there really is a connection between looking good and feeling good.

“If you carry yourself with a certain amount of confidence it’s going to translate to a possible employer, they’re going to pick up on it and in today’s job market that extra edge is going to make me be all the difference.”

Besides the clothing and accessories clients also received advice on writing proper resumes and prepping for job interviews.
