A Manitoba sex offender is back in custody less than a month after being released from Stony Mountain Institution.
William Rupert Astle, 81 was picked up Oct. 3 by Winnipeg police who were acting on a warrant. He was arrested without incident.
Police had previously issued an alert about Astle when he was released Sept. 8, 2017. He had served a four year sentence for indecent exposure and failure to comply with a probation order.

Astle has a history of offences dating back to 1969 involving public indecency and sexual interference with young girls. He was charged in 2014 after exposing and fondling himself in front of a 9-year-old girl at a Winnipeg Walmart.
Police said Astle was arrested for breach of probation but would not offer any further details.
