A reported theft may have led to a teen being struck by a vehicle in Langley Tuesday evening.
Langley RCMP says the collision appears to have been the result of a car chase that occurred after someone allegedly stole a set of tools from a construction site.
Police said the vehicles drove at high speeds down 40th Avenue, blowing a stop sign at 204th Street where one of them hit a 12-year-old riding a bike.

The cyclist was taken to hospital, where he had surgery overnight.
He is listed in critical condition.

After the accident, occupants of the speeding vehicle fled on foot; one was apprehended by an off duty police officer, the other was captured by a police dog, police said.
RCMP Corporal Holly Largy said the consequences were tragic.
Police closed the busy intersection at 204th Street and 40th Avenue for several hours while they investigated the incident.
