RCMP are investigating the homicide of a 19-year-old woman in Lac du Bonnet Tuesday.

A 20-year-old man is also in custody.

Manitoba RCMP first said they were on scene of a ‘serious incident’ Tuesday morning at 10 a.m.

They confirmed on their Twitter account at around 3:15 p.m. that they were investigating a homicide.

Officers were called to the intersection of Provincial Road 502 and Edward Crescent.

A car covered in a blue tarp can be seen at the corner of the intersection taped off by police. RCMP said “Public safety is not a concern in relation to this incident.”

A witness who lives nearby said he drove past that car early Tuesday morning and noticed blood on the road.

Gary Nadolsky said he was leaving his home with his son at 6:45 a.m. when he spotted a half naked man walking frantically around his yard.

“It looked like he had gone for a swim.  I yelled ‘what are you doing’ and he kept looking,” Nadolsky said he then yelled at his wife to lock the door and that’s when the man took off.

He later passed a car off PR 502 and noticed a person sitting on the pavement, slumped over. Because he had his son in the car, Nadolsky kept driving. An ambulance passed him minutes later and when Nadolsky returned home alone he passed the same car.

“There was blood all over the road, by the driver’s door, and there were a bunch of bloody footprints in the distance,” Nadolsky said.

By that time RCMP were also on scene and told Nadolsky to get back in his house.

Hours later he noticed the car in his own yard had a broken window.
