Antonino Catania arrested by Quebec’s anti-corruption squad

MONTREAL — Quebec’s anti-corruption squad has arrested Antonino Catania.

In a Thursday morning announcement, UPAC said it made the arrest using a warrant.

Catania faces charges of conspiracy, defrauding government and abuse of trust.

Two other men — former Montreal municipal construction-site inspector François Thériault and contractor Paolo Catania — had been arrested Wednesday morning in connection with the same case.

Antonino Catania is the father of Paolo Catania, of Les Entreprises CATCAN Inc., a firm that had done business with the city of Montreal.

All three men are scheduled to make a May 1 court appearance.
