Stuart Skinner made 26 saves, leading the Edmonton Oilers to a 3-0 win over the Winnipeg Jets Saturday night at the Young Stars Classic in Penticton.

Skinner, a grad of Edmonton’s South Side Athletic Club, was drafted by the Oilers 78th overall this summer.

“I was just having fun out there,” said Skinner. “With these guys in front of me, it made the game a lot easier for me.”

“He made some timely saves for us at critical points in the game,” said head coach Gerry Fleming. “Any time there was a situation where we were scrambling in own zone, he killed the play which allowed us to take a breath and regroup.”

Luke Coleman scored in the first period, capping off a strong forechecking shift 6:50 into the first. Chad Butcher added his third of the tournament in the second period. Joseph Gambardella tallied an empty net goal in the third.
