Mississauga Fire Chief Tim Beckett told Global news on scene that the fire quickly became a three alarm fire, however it was contained to three units of the townhouse complex.

Peel Regional Police Const. Rachel Gibbs said a male was removed from the home where the fire began without vital signs and pronounced dead at the scene.

The Ontario Fire Marshal has been called in to investigate.
