A runaway vehicle plows through a busy Kelowna intersection and it’s lucky that no one is seriously hurt.

It happened just before 3 p.m. on Tuesday at the Burtch and Guisachan round-about.

Cst. Tim Monteith with the Kelowna RCMP say a vehicle was traveling through the round-about when the driver lost control and hit one curb then another before crashing into a tree and smashing into a stone wall.

The female driver and her husband were in the vehicle; both are seniors.

Neither was seriously injured.

The impact was so great that the air bag was deployed.

Monteith says police are still not sure what caused the incident.

“Maybe she did panic after she hit the first curb and lost it from there,” he said. “But like I say, I don’t really like the way she looked. I spoke with her as well and maybe it was something medical.”

Monteith adds that speed was not a factor.
