Their mobile home was destroyed in a fire Friday morning.

RCMP confirm the fire is suspicious and they’ve identified a person of interest in their investigation.

Sgt. Rob Farrer says there’s a good likelihood the fire was deliberately set.

Farrer says witness statements have been taken but wouldn’t say if anyone has been arrested.

The blaze on Mabel Lake Road north of Lumby also damaged two adjacent homes and a pickup truck.

The family was not home when the fire broke out at about 8:30 a.m.

The mobile home park does not appear to be serviced with fire hydrants and the Lumby firefighters were assisted by crews from other area fire departments.
