EDMONTON – Bad weather and travel delays have pushed back the opening night performance of ‘Billy Elliot the Musical’ at the Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium.

The first performance at the venue was scheduled for Tuesday evening at 8 pm. Broadway Across Canada was forced to cancel that performance.

A major snowstorm in eastern Canada and the U.S. delayed the production’s arrival. Opening night will now be Wednesday night.

Stephanie Enders, a spokesperson for Bottom Line Productions, tells Global News the cast members arrived in Edmonton late Monday night, however the production’s trucks have been delayed. Their last performance was Sunday night in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

The company says it will make every effort to exchange tickets for Tuesday night’s show with tickets for another show this week. Refunds will also be offered to those customers unable to reschedule. Ticket refunds and exchanges will be handled at the original point of purchase.

Customers who do not exchange their tickets by Monday, March 25 will be refunded automatically, the company says.

For more information, ticket holders can contact Ticketmaster at 1-888-985-2787 or the Broadway Across Canada Service Centre at 1-866-540-7469.

The remaining Billy Elliot the Musical performances in Edmonton will not be affected and continue as follows: Wednesday through Saturday evenings at 8 p.m.; Saturday and Sunday matinees at 2 p.m.; and Sunday evening at 7:30 p.m.

Billy Elliot the Musical in Edmonton is part of a five-city tour in Canada including dates in Ottawa, Montreal, Calgary and Vancouver.
