Calgary election 2017: Druh Farrell wins Ward 7

Well-known incumbent Druh Farrell has been re-elected to represent Ward 7, according to unofficial municipal election results released Monday night.

Multiple voters told Global News councillor ballots were running out at the Scandinavian Centre in Ward 7 as of 6:30 p.m.

Below is a full list of candidates.

Margot Aftergood

Margot Aftergood volunteers her time on several committees and boards, including the Calgary Presbyterial United Church, the Kensington Commons Church and the Oi Kwan Foundation, along with being a licensed insurance broker. In her bid to win the Ward 7 seat on council, Aftergood is focusing on accountability and a strong fiscal plan.

Brent Alexander

Brent Alexander is a volunteer and managing director. He’s offered his free time to several organizations, including the Rotary Club of Calgary and Walk a Mile in Her Shoes. If elected, Alexander says he would focus on eliminating red tape at city hall, secondary suites and improving financial management.

Dean Brawn

Dean Brawn describes himself as an entrepreneur, strategic marketing professional and philanthropist. Born and raised in Calgary, he has worked with Vertigo Theatre Company, SAIT and the National Music Centre. Brawn says he wants to bring jobs back to the city and demand value for taxpayer dollars at city hall.

Druh Farrell (Incumbent)

Druh Farrell has been representing Ward 7 at Calgary City Council since being elected in 2001. In her run for re-election, Farrell aims to keep working on initiatives like recycling and composting, small business tax relief and making sure tax dollars are well spent.
