Three men injured in an explosion at a Red Deer car wash on Friday afternoon remained in hospital Monday, being treated for burns.

The blast happened in the detailing bay at the Lazer Wash & Detail Centre in northwest Red Deer.

Alberta Labour said three people were working with chemicals when a flash fire occurred. The owner of the car wash, Heebo Jo, told Global News that two of victims were workers while he believed the third was at the car wash for a job interview.

Jo believes the explosion may have been related to the use of a solvent-based chemical. He said the victims burned their legs but did not know the severity of the injuries.
