York Regional Police have laid charges after a man was stabbed earlier this month in what investigators describe as a road rage incident.
Police said Tuesday that a 53-year-old Brampton man was arrested without incident on Aug. 9.
On the night of Aug. 6, police were called to a Tim Hortons near Highway 27 and Zenway Boulevard in Vaughan and found a 29-year-old Brampton man with stab wounds inside the shop.
Police said the victim had driven himself there to seek assistance.
Police say that prior to the attack, the victim was being followed closely by another vehicle on Zenway Boulevard. The drivers left their vehicles and confronted each other at a red light at Highway 427.
The other driver drove away after stabbing the 29-year-old, according to police. The victim was treated in hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.
Vito Maltese, 53, of Brampton has been charged with assault with a weapon and assault causing bodily harm. He is expected in court on Sept. 14.
