Six young dancers from Peterborough will soon be dancing on the world stage.
Four of them – Emma Corcoran, Rianne Corcoran, Kaleigh Corcoran and Clair Cottam – are members of Team Canada, which will compete at the Commonwealth Dance Championships in Sun City, South Africa, next month.

“I just took to tap dancing right away,” said Melina Marktojohn, another member of Team Canada. “It’s been something that I’ve loved right from the get-go. It’s been long days but it has been fun and I can’t wait to see everything on the stage and just see how everything turns out.”
Meanwhile, Cassie Livingstone and Sabrina Ralph are preparing for the International Dance Organization’s world hip-hop, electric boogie and break dance championships in Denmark in October.

“With hip-hop there aren’t many rules behind it and it’s very free and there’s no wrong way to do it,” said Livingstone.
Choreographer Matthew Clark with Peterborough Dance Studio says it will be a proud moment when his students reach the world stage.
“It’s such a fulfilling thing for me to see when the kids become more confident and the discipline they exude is really something exceptional,” said Clark.
